Trance, a primer with Blake

Trance music is melodic beats with beautiful vocals, music that touches the soul.  For the past five years its kept Blake up when he was down and even happier when he was already flying high.  The general perception is that trance, techno, or house is the dance music you hear in clubs, but once you listen, it becomes so much more.  Blake encourages all of you reading this to give it a shot, whether youre listening to it while working out, driving, or  relaxing trance music will soothe your soul in ways you can’t imagine.  There are so many different types of dance music its ridiculous!! Lets see there is Trance, Techno, Electro, House, Psy-Trance, Hard Dance, Hardcore, Tech House, Chill, Progressice House, Progressive Trance it keeps going and going! If you so desire go check out www.beatport.com they have all the genres with a HUGE database of all the top Dj’s in the industry. There you will be able to listen to every genre and get a feel for what you like best!

Blake just started mixing a month ago and its been an unbelieveable experience.  He’s starting out right now making mixes at home on the computer and mixing LIVE on stickam which is really cool cause he has a little audience.  =]  So far people have really enjoyed what he’s played and its a really good feeling! “Like i said ive been listening to Trance for about 5 years now and i feel like im developing a really good ear for it!  Its my passion and its one of the funnest hobbies ive had! Well almost, i really enjoy flexing for you guys too.”  Most of the stuff he plays at the current time is music Top Dj’s have produced. There are two types of people in the music industry, people who mix and people who produce.  The best do both! Right now Blakker’s is working on his mixing skills and hopefully down the road he can dive into producing his own Trance!

Trance can be done on the computer but the best way to do it, according to Blake, is the old school way, 2 turntables, your vinyls, and a mixer! Though the industry seems to be going digital now instead of having two turntables. Still, its alot easier to mix a wav or mp3 file from you computer then it is to have to carry around a bag full of vinyls!  He think a lot of his training just came from listening to the music for so long! It almost seems like its coming naturally for him! Basically he went on ebay and got a mixer that he thought would work for him and then he just started! The only downfall so far has been paying for the programs that you have to use with the mixer! They are outrageously priced! If anyone is wanting to start, Blake advises ”Just DO IT.” The more practice you get the better you will become. Anything you put your mind too will be learned and over time you will see improvement!

In the Camwithim forums he has uploaded ALL the mixes he did for FREE! You can listen to some of the newest and best trance out by downloading his mixes.  Blake says, “I hope to keep you all entertained by Cam and by Stereo!”  xoxo

thanks Blakkers!
