Don’t you hate it when…

February 14th, 2006

Haha first post… yay for Matty speaking his mind !!

No matter how hard you work, no matter how hard you try, someone always tries to go outta their way to bring you down… It bothers me , that because I’ve busted my ass at the gym for the last few months, and had some really good results, that some people just assume, oh he’s on steroids… Some friends of mine told me that they were talking about how big i’ve gotten and one person kept going on about ”oh hes on juice” blah blah blah… get real ! Some people get jealous of what you’ve accomplished, and don’t realize how hard you’ve worked and what lifestyle changes you’ve made to achieve these goals, and the only way they can feel better about themselves is to try and put you down…  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

Quote of the Day “ When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.” -Wayne Dyer

  1. Dang…I lost what I had said. I’m following Abbie’s directions to the letter and replying. Matt, it always happens that there are those out there that are never happy with someone’s successes. I can say that I don’t know how to tell if someone is on steroids or not, but I take you at your word. I’d only worry about your health if you were. You’re an awesome guy, who tried to help fix my toilet (and didn’t charge).

You’re a great guy, and it’d be a disservice to you to let the negativity of others affect you in anyway. Just keep workin out and making yourself happy!

  2. Hey Matty! Great chat tonight BTW…Obviously, anyone who knew anything about diet/exercise/strength training, would be able to take a look at you…and know you weren’t juicing it up.

My main thought, tho…and perhaps you have already considered this, judging from your quote by Dr. Dyer…Is from a small book I recently read, entitled “The Four Agreements”, by Ruiz. I presented these life codes in a management seminar recently. This book has had a very powerful and profound impact on my life; as well as my interactions with other members of the human race.

The agreement that immediately came to mind when I read your post was number two, which states: “Don’t take anything personally- Nothing others do is because of you. A really good friend of mine from the gym fell victim to the same accusations.

When others make negative statements about you…try to remember, it’s not really about you, it’s about them…the place where they exist at that moment in time….their issues, insecurities, self doubts, desires, dreams, etc.

That way, it will depersonalize the issue, and free you from taking any responsibility for it.

Don’t mean to get “preachy” about this…just wanted to share with you my thoughts, and this amazing book!

  3. Great entry Matty. The only thing worse than ignorant people is ignorant people who assume, gossip and put down others. Your observations about these individuals is right on the money. Keep up the great work my friend.
